Texas-style BBQ sauce made from scratch

[matched_content]

Welcome back to our Sauce Series where we teach you how to make all of the great barbecue sauces from across the United States. Our next stop is the great state of Texas. A Texas barbecue sauce is bold and smoky with a little spice, and you can make it at home with just a few simple ingredients.

Start by melting some butter in a pan and sautéing some diced white onion. Then, add some water, brown sugar, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Add a nice kick of Texas honey and a can of tomato paste. For the seasonings, you’re going to add chili powder, celery salt, smoked paprika, and plenty of pepper. Cover the pan and let it simmer for about 20 minutes. Then, blend it up until it’s smooth. You can store it in the fridge for up to a week.
