Ingredients
  

  • ¾ cup Kentucky bourbon whiskey
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 medium onion finely diced
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons liquid smoke hickory flavor
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper adjust to taste

Method
 

  1. Combine bourbon, minced garlic, and diced onion in a large skillet over medium heat. Simmer until onion becomes translucent, about 10 minutes, allowing the bourbon to reduce slightly.
  2. Add ketchup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, molasses, and honey to the skillet. Stir thoroughly to combine all ingredients.
  3. Mix in the liquid smoke, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper. Stir until the mixture is completely smooth.
  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. The sauce will gradually thicken as it cooks.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool for about 15 minutes before transferring to glass containers for storage.
