- Combine bourbon, minced garlic, and diced onion in a large skillet over medium heat. Simmer until onion becomes translucent, about 10 minutes, allowing the bourbon to reduce slightly.
- Add ketchup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, molasses, and honey to the skillet. Stir thoroughly to combine all ingredients.
- Mix in the liquid smoke, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper. Stir until the mixture is completely smooth.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. The sauce will gradually thicken as it cooks.
- Remove from heat and let cool for about 15 minutes before transferring to glass containers for storage.
