Ingredients
Method
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking dish with aluminum foil for easier cleanup.
- In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne (if using).
- Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. This helps the seasonings stick and promotes crispy skin.
- Rub the chicken breasts with olive oil, then sprinkle generously with the spice mixture, making sure to season both sides.
- Place the seasoned chicken breasts skin-side up in the prepared baking dish, allowing some space between pieces.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes.
- Remove the chicken from the oven and generously brush each piece with barbecue sauce, making sure to cover all exposed surfaces.
- Return the chicken to the oven and continue baking for another 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the sauce has caramelized slightly.
- For extra caramelization, you can turn on the broiler for the final 2-3 minutes. Watch carefully to prevent burning!
- Remove from oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow the juices to redistribute.
