Method
- Trim any excess fat from the chuck roast, but leave some for flavor.
- In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Rub the seasoning mixture all over the chuck roast, ensuring it's evenly coated.
- Place the seasoned roast in your slow cooker.
- Mix barbecue sauce, brown sugar (if using), and Worcestershire sauce (if using) in a bowl.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the roast, making sure it's well covered.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 7-8 hours or on HIGH for 4-5 hours, until the meat is fork-tender and easily shreds.
- Once done, remove the roast to a cutting board and shred with two forks, removing any remaining fat.
- Return the shredded meat to the slow cooker and stir to coat with sauce. Allow it to warm through for 10-15 minutes before serving.
