Ingredients

  • 5 pounds chicken wings thawed if frozen
  • 1 cup high-quality BBQ sauce plus extra for serving
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder optional

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  2. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to help them get crispy in the oven.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the wings with olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until evenly coated.
  4. Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. For extra crispiness, place them on a wire rack set over the baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 45 minutes, turning halfway through, until the skin is crispy and golden brown.
  6. Remove the wings from the oven and brush generously with BBQ sauce, coating all sides.
  7. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the sauce is sticky and caramelized.
  8. For an extra layer of flavor, brush with additional BBQ sauce just before serving.
