Ingredients
  

  • 4 whole skin-on bone-in chicken breasts (approximately 2-3 pounds)
  • 1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce plus extra for basting
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon brown sugar for extra caramelization
  • Optional: ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper for heat lovers

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking dish or sheet with aluminum foil for easier cleanup.
  2. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. This helps the seasonings adhere better and promotes browning.
  3. In a small bowl, mix olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, salt, pepper, and optional brown sugar and cayenne.
  4. Rub this seasoning mixture all over the chicken breasts, ensuring you get some underneath the skin for maximum flavor.
  5. Place the seasoned chicken breasts skin-side up on your prepared baking dish, leaving some space between each piece.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  7. Remove the chicken from the oven and generously brush each piece with BBQ sauce, making sure to cover all exposed areas.
  8. Return the chicken to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is nicely caramelized.
  9. For extra saucy chicken, brush with another layer of BBQ sauce during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
  10. Once done, remove from oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
  11. Serve hot with additional BBQ sauce on the side if desired.
