Ingredients
Method
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup and place a wire rack on top if you have one.
- Pat the chicken drumsticks dry with paper towels. This helps the seasonings stick and promotes crispier skin.
- In a small bowl, mix the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
- Drizzle the drumsticks with olive oil, then sprinkle the seasoning mixture all over, making sure to coat them evenly.
- Arrange the seasoned drumsticks on your prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each piece.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- Remove the chicken from the oven and brush generously with BBQ sauce on all sides.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
- Brush with another layer of BBQ sauce and bake for 5 more minutes, until the chicken is fully cooked (internal temperature of 165°F/74°C) and the sauce is sticky and caramelized.
- For extra caramelization, broil for 2-3 minutes at the end, watching carefully to prevent burning.
- Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow juices to redistribute.
- Garnish with fresh chopped parsley if desired and serve with additional BBQ sauce on the side.
