Method
- Place chicken breast halves in the bottom of your slow cooker, arranging them in a single layer if possible.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, minced garlic, red pepper flakes (if using), Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the chicken, making sure all pieces are coated.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6-7 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours, until chicken is very tender and easily shreds with a fork.
- About 30 minutes before serving, remove chicken from the slow cooker and shred using two forks.
- Return shredded chicken to the slow cooker, stir to coat with sauce, and continue cooking on LOW for another 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
