  • 2 pounds thinly sliced deli ham ask for 'chipped ham' if available
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 3 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 8 hamburger buns

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).
  2. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter completely.
  3. Add the ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder to the melted butter. Stir until well combined.
  4. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to low.
  5. Add the thinly sliced ham to the sauce, breaking apart the slices as you add them to ensure they're evenly coated.
  6. Stir gently until all the ham is covered with sauce. Continue cooking for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Transfer the ham mixture to a baking dish, cover with aluminum foil, and place in the preheated oven for 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  8. Meanwhile, if desired, lightly toast the hamburger buns.
  9. Serve the hot ham bbq mixture on buns and enjoy immediately!
