Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ cups brown sugar packed
  • 1 ¼ cups ketchup
  • ½ cup red wine vinegar
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 ½ tablespoons dry mustard
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 dashes hot sauce optional for extra heat

Method
 

  1. Gather all ingredients and measure them out before beginning.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, ketchup, red wine vinegar, and water. Stir well to combine.
  3. Add Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, paprika, salt, and black pepper to the mixture.
  4. If you prefer a spicier sauce, add a couple dashes of hot sauce.
  5. Whisk all ingredients together until fully incorporated.
  6. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
  7. Reduce heat to low and allow the sauce to simmer for 5 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking or burning.
  8. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before using.
  9. Transfer to a glass jar or container for storage.
