Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef 80/20 for best flavor
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 medium onion finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 cups barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten eggs, diced onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika. Use clean hands to gently mix until just combined.
  3. Form the mixture into approximately 24-30 meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until they're browned and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F).
  5. While the meatballs bake, prepare the BBQ sauce mixture. In a medium bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  6. Remove the meatballs from the oven and transfer them to a 9x13-inch baking dish. Pour the BBQ sauce mixture over the meatballs, ensuring they're all evenly coated.
  7. Return the meatballs to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, until the sauce is bubbly and has thickened slightly.
  8. For an extra sticky glaze, you can broil the meatballs for 2-3 minutes at the end of cooking time. Watch them carefully to prevent burning!
  9. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
