Ingredients

  • 2 cans young green jackfruit drained and shredded
  • 4 burger buns toasted
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 1 cup coleslaw mix
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Method

  1. Drain and rinse the jackfruit. Remove any seeds or tough cores, then shred with two forks until it resembles pulled meat.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté until translucent and lightly caramelized. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add shredded jackfruit to the skillet. Sprinkle with smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring to coat evenly.
  4. Add BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, and maple syrup. Reduce heat to low and simmer 10–15 minutes until thickened and absorbed.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Toast buns cut-side up for about 5 minutes until golden.
  6. Pile BBQ jackfruit onto buns. Top with sautéed onions and coleslaw. Add top bun and serve warm.
