Ingredients
  

  • 4 bone-in skin-on chicken breasts (about 2-3 pounds total)
  • 1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  3. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. This helps the seasoning stick and promotes crispy skin.
  4. Drizzle olive oil over the chicken breasts and rub to coat evenly.
  5. Sprinkle the spice mixture evenly over all sides of the chicken.
  6. Place the seasoned chicken breasts skin-side up on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each piece.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes to allow the chicken to cook partially and the skin to start crisping.
  8. Remove from the oven and brush each chicken breast generously with BBQ sauce, making sure to cover all exposed surfaces.
  9. Sprinkle a little brown sugar on top of the BBQ sauce for extra caramelization.
  10. Return to the oven and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the BBQ sauce is sticky and starting to caramelize.
  11. For extra sticky, glazed chicken, brush with another thin layer of BBQ sauce during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
  12. Allow the chicken to rest for 5 minutes before serving to help retain juices.
