Ingredients
  

  • 4 whole skin-on bone-in chicken breasts
  • 1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce plus extra for basting
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper optional, for heat

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. This helps the seasonings stick and ensures crispy skin.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne (if using).
  4. Drizzle the chicken with olive oil, then rub the spice mixture all over, making sure to get some under the skin for maximum flavor.
  5. Place the chicken breasts skin-side up on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each piece.
  6. Bake for 25 minutes, then remove from the oven.
  7. Generously brush each chicken breast with BBQ sauce, making sure to cover the entire surface.
  8. Return to the oven and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the BBQ sauce has caramelized.
  9. For extra saucy chicken, brush with another layer of BBQ sauce during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
  10. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5-10 minutes before serving to keep all those delicious juices inside.
