  • 1 ¼ cups ketchup
  • ½ cup red wine vinegar
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 ½ tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 2 teaspoons paprika

  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper optional, for heat

Method

  1. Gather all your bbq sauce ingredients and measure them out before starting.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, ketchup, red wine vinegar, and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar begins to dissolve.
  3. Add the Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, paprika, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Whisk thoroughly to combine.
  4. Mix in the minced garlic and cayenne pepper (if using).
  5. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
  6. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
